St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM), part of St Vincent’s Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, is seeking experienced and motivated Instrument Technicians (Grade 3/4) to join our Central Sterilising Department (CSSD) team on a part-time basis.
About Us
SVPHM operates across four sites — Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew, and Werribee — delivering high-quality care across a wide range of surgical specialties. Our CSSD supports eight operating theatres and external customers, including specialties such as:
Neurosurgery
Orthopaedics
Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery
General Surgery
Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Urology
Plastics, Hand Surgery & Ophthalmics
Robotic Surgery
About the Role
Working within a friendly, supportive, and highly skilled team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of reusable medical devices. This role suits a reliable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a team-focused environment.
You will be required to work across morning, afternoon, and night shifts as rostered.
Key Responsibilities
Reprocessing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices
Inspection, assembly, packaging, and documentation of surgical instrumentation
Handling and management of loan surgical kits
Working across all areas of CSSD, including Loans
Maintaining compliance with infection prevention and quality standards
About You
You will have:
Certificate III in Health – Sterilising Services (or equivalent)
Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 4187
Strong understanding of surgical instrumentation
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Flexibility, reliability, and excellent attention to detail
