About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and respected National Sonographer Workforce Strategy Lead to provide senior clinical and workforce leadership across our national network.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior sonographer leader to influence clinical standards, workforce strategy, training pipelines, and service sustainability at scale — while remaining clinically credible with ongoing hands-on practice.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this role plays a critical part in strengthening sonographer capability, quality, engagement, and retention across IDX.

As the National Sonographer Workforce Strategy Lead, you will:

  • Provide national clinical leadership to the sonographer workforce
  • Lead and standardise sonographer practice frameworks, image review, peer review, and technical quality processes
  • Drive workforce attraction, retention, and capability development strategies
  • Oversee national sonographer training and trainee pipelines
  • Support productivity, workflow optimisation, and diagnostic efficiency
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality, patient-centred ultrasound services across all sites

You will work closely with Radiologists, General Managers, Operations Leaders, and Corporate teams, balancing clinical excellence with commercial and operational realities.

This role maintains ongoing clinical engagement, including on-site scanning approximately one day per week, to ensure credibility, mentoring, and hands-on leadership.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Ultrasound
  • Current ASAR registration
  • Minimum 5 years’ practical Ultrasound experience
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and staff supervision
  • Strong clinical credibility with sound commercial and operational awareness
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
