About the Oncology Trials Unit
The St Vincent’s Oncology Trials Unit is a leading clinical research service dedicated to advancing cancer treatment through innovative national and international clinical trials. Working in partnership with leading medical oncologists, researchers, pharmaceutical sponsors and cooperative research groups, the unit delivers cutting-edge clinical trials that provide patients with access to emerging therapies and contribute to the future of cancer care.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Oncology Clinical Trial Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across our Oncology Trials Unit. This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to oversee a diverse portfolio of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials, while supporting and developing a passionate multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in driving research excellence, developing strategic partnerships and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality clinical trials for patients, researchers and stakeholders. You will be responsible for the operational, financial and regulatory oversight of the Oncology Trials Unit, with a focus on sustainability, compliance, growth and the identification of new research opportunities.

Classification: JB13 ($118,981.20 per annum, pro rata for part time).

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Oncology Trials Unit
• Lead the planning, development, implementation and management of new and ongoing clinical trials
• Oversee a diverse portfolio of early-phase, investigator-led and industry-sponsored research
• Support and lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve high-quality research outcomes
• Drive continuous improvement, research excellence and best-practice clinical trial delivery

Research & Partnerships

• Identify and secure new research opportunities through feasibility assessments and strategic stakeholder engagement
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with medical oncologists, researchers, pharmaceutical sponsors and cooperative research groups
• Act as the primary contact for clinical trial matters across internal and external stakeholders
• Contribute to innovative research that has the potential to influence future standards of cancer treatment

Financial & Regulatory Oversight

• Provide financial oversight of the clinical trials portfolio, supporting the sustainability and growth of the unit
• Ensure clinical trials are conducted in accordance with relevant regulatory, ethical and Good Clinical Practice requirements
• Maintain strong governance and compliance across research activities
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and trial performance

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated leadership experience within a clinical trials environment
• Strong understanding of oncology research, clinical trial processes and regulatory requirements
• Experience in oncology, haematology or another relevant health-related clinical trial environment
• Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing clinical trials within a hospital setting
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
• Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes
• Completion of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
