Salary & Benefits
  • Medical Practitioner Level 511
  • Up to $189,005 p.a. pro rata
  • 12% Superannuation
  • Salary packaging available
  • 10 hours protected paid training time per fortnight (Registrars)
The Hospital & Service
Join a modern teaching hospital providing specialist services supported by close links with the University of Tasmania Rural Clinical School.
Clinical exposure includes:
  • General Paediatrics
  • Neonatal Medicine
  • Acute Care
  • Community & Developmental Paediatrics
  • Outreach Medicine
The service includes:
  • Approximately 1,000 paediatric admissions annually
  • Around 1,000 births per year
  • 150200 Special Care Nursery admissions annually
  • Level 4 Neonatal Unit
  • 8-bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit
The Role
You will gain extensive experience in:
  • Assessment and management of paediatric and neonatal patients
  • Neonatal resuscitation and attendance at deliveries
  • Paediatric emergencies and acute care
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Procedural sedation
  • Community outreach medicine
  • Multidisciplinary clinics including asthma/allergy and behavioural/developmental paediatrics
Registrars also attend specialist clinics including:
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Diabetes
  • Oncology
  • Rehabilitation
The regional nature of the service allows excellent clinical autonomy with appropriate supervision and outstanding opportunities for skill development.

Training & Accreditation
The department holds:
  • Full RACP Accreditation for General Paediatrics (Rural) with perinatal component
  • Full ACRRM Accreditation for Advanced Specialised Training in Paediatrics
Regular teaching sessions, multidisciplinary education, and consultant mentorship are central to the department culture.

Requirements
  • General or limited registration with AHPRA
  • Previous paediatric experience
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to professional development and patient-centred care
International Medical Graduates with appropriate AHPRA registration and work rights are encouraged to apply.
