Fixed term 12-month maternity leave replacement position (0.8 FTE, Mon - Thurs, 30.4 hours per week)

Salary range $32.97 - $42.19 per hour + superannuation, depending on year level of experience (Cabrini Health Professional Agreement 2023)

The Cabrini Pastoral and Bereavement Services team supports patients, families and staff and responds to people’s spiritual and emotional needs.
About the role
The Pastoral Care Practitioner Grade 1 will be responsible for the delivery of high quality, culturally safe, person-centred spiritual and emotional care that addresses the needs of patients and families. The role also involves offering grief and bereavement follow-up support for families.
We are seeking a practitioner who is available to work primarily but not exclusively in palliative care. The shifts are from 8.00AM to 4.00pm. The practitioner must be available for weekend ‘on call’ shifts and public holidays as required.
Key responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively with the pastoral and multidisciplinary teams
- Undertaking assessment of emotional, spiritual and religious needs
- Completing weekly reports and contributions to the multidisciplinary meeting
- Supporting the palliative care volunteers and liaising with faith chaplains as needed
- Offering bereavement support and information for families
About You
You will be warm and compassionate with experience in delivering pastoral care services in a palliative care setting.
You will be:
- Passionate about providing holistic pastoral care in a multi-faith healthcare setting
- Empathic and approachable with excellent communication skills
- Eligible for membership of Spiritual Care Australia
- Proficient computer skills and competent in documentation and reporting requirements
You will have:
- A tertiary qualification in theology or pastoral care or relevant field of studies
- Supervised training in providing spiritual care (e.g. Clinical Pastoral Education).
