About the Role
As the Laboratory Assistant/Technician you will perform the pre-processing of samples received at the reception area of Pathology. This includes identification, numbering and distribution of samples and may include computer entry, weighing, centrifugation or aliquoting.

• Data entry of patient details, clinical notes, requested tests, billing information, process request forms through the document scanning system
• Clerical duties such as filing, photocopying and faxing and responding to telephone enquiries for information or results
• Performing basic laboratory processes and instrument maintenance

Classification for this position is HS1A $27.75 per hour

Your Contribution

• Victorian Certificate of Education (or equivalent) or a Certificate awarded by TAFE
• Basic to intermediate skills for data entry into a laboratory information system
• Basic laboratory skills & understanding of simple laboratory tests
• An ability to respond to enquiries for information on laboratory procedures & patient results
• Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

St Vincent’s Pathology is a private practice offering diagnostic testing to both inpatients of St Vincent’s Private Hospitals located in Fitzroy, East Melbourne and Kew, St Vincent’s Public Hospital Fitzroy as well as servicing privately referred patients in up to 80 Pathology Collection centres located across Metropolitan Melbourne.
