Care to join the team?
Help make the cancer treatment journey a little easier to navigate.
For patients going through cancer treatment, there can be a lot to manage - appointments, referrals, different healthcare professionals and uncertainty about what happens next.
We’re looking for a Patient Navigator to join our team in Wembley, WA, providing a consistent and reassuring point of contact for patients as they move from referral through to the commencement of radiation therapy.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with healthcare experience who is highly organised, compassionate and a natural relationship builder. You’ll work closely with patients, specialists and our clinical teams to help coordinate each patient’s pathway, keep things moving and make sure they feel informed and supported along the way.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Wembley with some travel across our Hollywood and Murdoch clinics.
What you'll do
As Patient Navigator, you’ll become a trusted and accessible point of contact for patients, helping them understand and navigate the practical aspects of their treatment journey.
You will:
- Support patients through referral, consultation, investigations, treatment planning and commencement of radiation therapy
- Coordinate appointments, investigations and referrals, ensuring the right things happen at the right time
- Proactively follow up patients and help identify and resolve barriers that could delay their treatment
- Keep patients informed about what to expect at different stages of their pathway
- Work closely with specialists, clinical nurse specialists, MDT coordinators and site teams to support a seamless patient experience
- Help connect patients with appropriate support services, including allied health and psychosocial support
- Assist patients in understanding billing, Medicare, private health coverage and expected out-of-pocket costs
- Maintain accurate information and track patients throughout their pathway
- Help improve processes and identify opportunities to make the patient experience even better
Importantly, this is a non-clinical role. You won't be expected to provide clinical advice – instead, you'll work in partnership with our nursing and specialist teams, helping connect patients with the right people and information when clinical support is required.
What you'll bring
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and can bring calm, organisation and clarity to what can sometimes be a complex environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous healthcare experience – this is essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with patients and healthcare professionals
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities calmly and effectively
- Confidence working with clinicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Good attention to detail and an understanding of medical terminology
- A proactive approach – you’re someone who follows things through and doesn't let important details fall through the cracks
- Confidence using systems and technology, including Microsoft Office
- An understanding of oncology patient pathways would be highly regarded
- Experience implementing new programs or processes would be an advantage
