Patient Navigator

GenesisCare

Care to join the team?

Help strengthen relationships with referring doctors while making the cancer treatment journey a little easier for patients to navigate.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Navigator to join our team in Wembley, WA, playing a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with referring doctors, specialists and healthcare providers, while providing a consistent and reassuring point of contact for patients as they move from referral through to the commencement of radiation therapy.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with healthcare experience who enjoys building relationships, engaging with medical professionals and supporting patients through what can often be a challenging and uncertain time.

Working closely with our Radiation Oncologists, clinical teams and referring practices, you'll help ensure referrals are managed efficiently, communication is timely and patients feel informed and supported throughout their treatment journey.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, highly organised and a natural relationship builder, with the confidence to engage with doctors and their practice teams, while bringing compassion and understanding to every patient interaction.

Importantly, this is a non-clinical but patient-facing role, with an expectation that the Patient Navigator works on site and engages directly with patients and care teams. Accordingly, the role is not designed to be performed remotely or from home.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Wembley, with some travel across our Hollywood and Murdoch clinics.

What you'll do
As Patient Navigator, you'll play an important role in supporting referrer engagement, strengthening relationships with healthcare professionals and ensuring patients experience a coordinated and efficient pathway into treatment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with referring GPs, specialists and their practice teams, becoming a trusted and accessible point of contact.
  • Proactively engage with referring practices to support referral pathways, strengthen communication and ensure a positive referrer experience.
  • Work closely with our Radiation Oncologists and clinical teams to facilitate timely consultations and treatment commencement.
  • Coordinate and track incoming referrals, ensuring patients progress efficiently through consultation, investigations, treatment planning and commencement of radiation therapy.
  • Maintain regular communication with referring doctors and their teams, providing updates and following up on outstanding information where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve referral processes, strengthen referrer relationships and enhance access to our services.
  • Proactively follow up with patients and healthcare providers to identify and resolve barriers that may delay treatment.
  • Support patients by providing clear information about appointments, treatment pathways and practical aspects of their care.
  • Collaborate with specialists, clinical nurse specialists, MDT coordinators and site teams to deliver a seamless patient experience.
  • Maintain accurate referral and patient information, supporting reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

You won't be expected to provide clinical advice. Instead, you'll work in partnership with our Radiation Oncologists, nursing teams and other healthcare professionals to support effective communication, referral coordination and patient care.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who is a natural relationship builder, enjoys working with healthcare professionals and has the confidence to engage with doctors and their practice teams.

You'll be proactive, personable and highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and follow through to ensure both referrers and patients receive an exceptional experience.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience working within a healthcare environment – essential.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with doctors, specialists or other healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with medical professionals and practice teams.
  • A proactive and relationship-focused approach, with a genuine interest in improving the referrer and patient experience.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple referrals, appointments and priorities.
  • An understanding of medical terminology, referral processes and healthcare pathways.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence using healthcare systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in medical liaison, referrer engagement, specialist practice coordination or healthcare relationship management would be highly regarded.
  • Experience within oncology or radiation therapy would be an advantage.
