Physiotherapist Grade 2 - Rotational Musculoskeletal

St Vincent's Hospital

30.4 hours per week until 31 December 2026, increasing to full-time until 19 March 2027
Fixed-term appointment until 19 March 2027

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated Grade 2 Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Department at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.

Based at our Fitzroy campus, you will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management for patients across orthopaedics, plastics and rheumatology. This rotational position offers six-monthly rotations between inpatient and outpatient musculoskeletal services, providing excellent opportunities to broaden your clinical skills and experience. In addition to delivering excellent patient care, you will contribute to student education, supervise Grade 1 physiotherapists and Allied Health Assistants, and play an active leadership role within the department. Applications are welcomed from current Grade 2 Physiotherapists, or experienced Grade 1 Physiotherapists ready to take the next step in their career. Postgraduate qualifications in musculoskeletal physiotherapy or a related field will be highly regarded. Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).

Classification: VB1–VB4 ($90,235.60 - $103,724.40 per annum, pro rata for part time).

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management for musculoskeletal inpatients and outpatients.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, including patient education and discharge planning.
  • Communicate assessment findings and treatment outcomes effectively with medical, nursing and allied health teams through documentation and clinical handover.
  • Supervise and support undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students, Grade 1 physiotherapists and Allied Health Assistants.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, service development and evidence-based practice within the department.

About You

You will bring:

  • Recent experience managing musculoskeletal patients within an acute healthcare setting.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
  • A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supervising students and/or junior staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to continuous quality improvement, professional development and delivering patient-centred care.
