About the Role

Psychologist Grade 2 or Grade 3 – 0.8 FTE


This is a six-week long service leave cover for a Grade 2 or 3 Psychologist within the Barbara Walker Centre for Pain Management.

This role requires the clinician to provide evidence-based psychology services, including comprehensive assessment, treatment, and education, for people with persistent pain at BWCPM.

You will work with an inter-disciplinary team comprising doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, nurses and other team members to plan and deliver effective goal-directed programs for people with reduced function as a result of persistent pain.

You will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of psychological principles as applied to the area of pain management assessment and treatment.

Duties:

  • Conduct effective evidence-based psychological assessments and treatments for people with persistent pain in both individual and group settings.
  • Participate in case review with the multi-disciplinary team and provide psychological assessment outcomes to inform treatment recommendations
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in pain management and psychology to assess and manage complex clinical cases

Grade 3 candidates will also be required to

  • Provide secondary consultation for Grade 2 psychologists and other discipline clinicians where appropriate
  • Supervise Grade 2 psychologists at BWCPM

Classifications for this position will be dependent on years of experience.
Psychologist Grade 2 PK1 - PK4 ($92,627 - $104,811 per annum, pro rata)
Psychologist Grade 3 PL1 - PL4 ($106,158 - $121,477 per annum, pro rata)

  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Current National Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain
  • Board approved supervisor

About the Department
The Barbara Walker Centre for Pain Management (BWCPM) is located at St Vincent’s Hospital Fitzroy, and is a non-admitted inter-disciplinary service that provides assessment, treatment and consultation for patients with persistent pain. The service comprises specialist pain clinicians (pain medicine physicians and trainees, psychiatrist, physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, allied health assistant and research assistant) working as an integrated team to address the medical, physical and psycho-social factors contributing to the persistence of pain and its consequent disability. The clinic services a diverse group of clients from around Victoria, many with complex needs, offering treatment both individually and in groups.
