About the Department
The Cardiac Investigation Unit at St Vincent’s is an innovative cardiac catheter laboratory with a focus on interventional cardiology. The unit functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team that offers the full range of cardiac diagnostic services. The unit operates, Monday to Friday with an on-call roster operating for the Registered Nurses.
About the Role
The Grade 2 Registered Nurse, under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care in his/her specific area. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring his/her own professional development in order to maintain clinical skills and knowledge.
Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP9 ($69,253.60 - $92,601.60 pro rata per annum).
Duties
- Managing the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
- Administration of medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
- Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit
- Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress
- Liaise with patient, patient’s family, medical and ancillary staff as required or requested
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
- Cardiology experience is essential
- Cath lab experience is highly regarded
- Display excellent communication skills and be competent and confident in managing acute situations in a rapidly changing clinical environment
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
