About the Role
You are a Registered Nurse with excellent time management and experience with surgical and endoscopy post operative patients as well as admission and discharge planning.
- Practices in accordance with the professional standards, codes and behaviours that are regulated through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
- Works collaboratively within the scope of practice to ensure the efficient, effective and responsive operation of the allocated work unit
- Supports and encourages patients and their family's understanding of care delivery and care planning through effective and timely communication with patients, team members, and the community
- Ensures clinical interventions are evidence-based and consistent with policy, standard and clinical practice guidelines prescribed by SVHM
- Is accountable for timely communication with the nursing team, multidisciplinary team and reporting outcomes of nursing interventions to the Nurse Unit Manager or delegate
- Treats all patients, visitors and staff in a courteous and non-discriminatory manner and maintains confidentiality in regards to patients and all staff
- Takes responsibility for managing their own learning needs & participates in relevant professional development programs including contributing to ongoing education initiatives within the work unit
- Complies with mandatory & other identified training requirements specified NMBA & SVHM
- Participates in the supervision, support and mentorship of students and new staff
- Provides supervision & appropriate clinical delegation to the Enrolled Nurse, Health Assistant and pre-registration learners
- Complies with SVHM policies and reports all actual or near miss events
- Promotes a culture of continuous quality service improvement within the unit and participates in activities designed to continuously improve standards of service and practice
- Is adaptable to learning in all areas of the RAH if required to do so
Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP9 ($69,253.60 - $92,601.60 pro rata per annum).
Your Contribution
- Minimum 12 months experience in a fast-paced acute hospital environment
- Sound knowledge in the care and requirements of a post-operative patient
- Ability to interpret post operative orders and provide discharge information to patients
- Practice within a "patient-centred care" framework
- Actively contribute to supporting a high-functioning nursing and multidisciplinary team
- Assist and support change and implement process improvement
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse no restrictions

St Vincent's Hospital on the Park Rapid Access Hub, located in East Melbourne, houses 5 procedural rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Area and works in conjunction with the Day Procedure Centre. The hub focuses on day of surgery management concentrating on specialities including Plastics, Orthopaedics, General, Urology, and Endoscopy among other specialties.
