About the Program
The Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) – Intensive Care Program is a comprehensive, supported pathway for Registered Nurses looking to develop specialist skills in critical care nursing.

Commencing in February 2027, this part time opportunity (0.8FTE) combines structured education with hands-on clinical experience, providing the knowledge, confidence and support needed to transition into the dynamic and rewarding ICU environment. Participants will work rotating shifts while undertaking the program.

Working within Cabrini’s 16-bed Level 3 Intensive Care Unit, you will care for patients requiring complex medical, surgical and critical care management, supported by experienced clinicians, educators and leaders.

About Our ICU
Cabrini’s ICU provides care for patients requiring advanced critical care, including:

• Major surgical and post-cardiac surgery recovery
• Respiratory failure and advanced respiratory support
• Neurological and neurosurgical conditions
• Sepsis, renal failure and multi-organ dysfunction
• Emergency admissions and inter-hospital transfers

The Program
Commencing February 2027, the TSP program offers:

• Structured online, face-to-face and clinical learning
• Dedicated study days focused on critical care nursing
• Supported clinical practice with experienced ICU preceptors
• Ongoing mentorship from Nurse Educators and ICU leadership
• Opportunities for future postgraduate critical care studies
• A collaborative and supportive learning environment

About You
You are a motivated Registered Nurse who is passionate about developing a career in intensive care nursing and committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

To be successful, you will have:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
• Minimum 18 months post-registration acute nursing experience
• A commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Alignment with Cabrini’s Mission and Values
