About the Role
This role will provide a specialist mental health care coordination and clinical intervention service to people accessing the Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR). It will play a critical role in establishing formalised and effective linkages and pathways between NRCH AOD programs, and acute mental health care at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM).
- Provide timely specialist mental health assessments and initial interventions to MSIR clients,
- Provide case management supports to a small case load of clients with co-occurring and complex mental health and AOD presentations, through development of collaborative treatment plans in conjunction with MSIR staff.
- Deliver a range of clinical interventions based on client’s needs that are trauma informed, strength based, and recovery focussed within a culturally inclusive framework. This may include brief intervention, motivational interviewing, de-escalation strategies, and evidence based psychological strategies to individuals and their families/supports as needed.
Classifications for this position will range from:
- OT/SW Grade 3 YB24 - YB27 or YC46 - YC49 ($101,597 - $116,074 per annum pro rata)
- RPN Grade 4 NP75 - NP77 ($112,465 - $121,113 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
Formal Education/ Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work, Division 3 or Division 1 Nurse with Psychiatric Endorsement from the Nurses Board of Victoria.
- Current registration or eligibility for appropriate professional body.
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with the exception of Social Work.
Specific Training Course:
- Post graduate qualifications in a relevant area of specialty or in the process of achieving.
- A current Victorian driver’s licence.
- A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain
Knowledge & Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years post qualification in psychiatric nursing, and a minimum of 7 years post qualification in Occupational Therapy or Social Work.
