Senior Mental Health Clinician | STAY

St Vincent's Hospital

  • Part-time, 0.4 EFT (2 days per week)
  • Senior clinical position – Fixed Term until 27/06/2025
  • Clarendon Clinic, East Melbourne Location




About the Role
Under the direction of the Manager and Team Consultant Psychiatrist and in collaboration with team members, develop and implement strategies that support tenants of public housing requiring mental health and drug and alcohol support. You will develop interventions to engage tenants in STAY, to connect with their community, and to reduce the impact of mental ill health on day to day functioning. You will provide assessment, short term case work, primary and secondary consultations, education, capacity building and community development interventions to local Housing Offices and the tenants of local public housing properties.


You have the necessary skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external health professionals. You feel comfortable working in a ‘non-traditional’ mental health role and are open to new learning. You will contribute to the development and delivery of tenants support and referral plans through effective engagement and connection


You are highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic and are able to apply your professional skills to the support and recovery of others.



Classifications for this position will range from:

  • RPN Grade 4 NP75 - NP77 ($112,465 - $121,113 per annum pro rata)
  • OT/SW Grade 3 YB24 – YB27 or YC46 - YC49 ($101,597 - $116,074 per annum pro rata)





Your Contribution

  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification clinical experience within Mental Health Services
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision to other mental health staff
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence.



Desired Skills:

  • An interest or skills in working with hoarding behaviour
  • Experience or knowledge in the Public Housing sector



You will have a qualification in either:

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree (minimum) and relevant post graduate qualifications in Nursing and registered with AHPRA
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work
  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Eligible for membership of Australian Association of Occupational Therapy and registered as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA

The Housing Support Program (STAY) provides ongoing specialist treatment, support, and consultation to meet the identified needs of people who have potential mental health presentations or concerns and are tenants in local public housing properties in the Cities of Yarra and Boroondara. The multidisciplinary team provides a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions using the recovery-focused Strengths Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice.
