The Role:
We are currently looking for experienced Emergency Medicine Registrars/Senior Registrars (ACEM accredited) who preferably hold general registration, some International Medical Graduates who hold limited or provisional registration and are working towards general registration may be considered for these roles.

The Emergency Department currently sees over 75,000 patients per annum. The admission rate is about 40%, with high acuity presentations. There are currently 37 consultants working in the Emergency Department across both sites including 3 ACEM examiners.

The ED is a purpose-built facility and includes a separate resuscitation area with capacity for frequent management of medical emergencies in adults and children, major trauma and other life-threatening emergencies The Department provides resuscitation, stabilisation and initial treatment for all emergencies. It is designated by the State Medical Displan as one prepared to send out teams of appropriately trained staff to a disaster site.
The Emergency Medicine Department is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for Advanced Vocational Training and for ACEM Paediatric training requirements. The department has formal academic affiliation with the Faculty of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University

The health services Emergency departments are one of the leading Emergency organisations in Victoria, with an innovative model of care, interesting and challenging case mix and high level of consultant supervision (Senior Medical staff on site 18 hours per day at the main Hospital and, 10 hours/day at secondary Hospital).

The Emergency department has recently been awarded ACEMs highest level of accreditation at 24 months, with the network offering access to secondment rotations (including Medicine, ICU and Anaesthetics, Paediatrics, as well as Special skills rotations in Ultrasound and Education).

The service has established teaching programs for ACEMs Primary and Fellowship exams, a Simulation medicine teaching program (monthly sessions in conjunction with Anaesthetics, Paediatrics and Intensive Care in the dedicated-on site simulation lab), as well as offering supervision for the ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate and Diplomas. Registrars have ample opportunities for involvement with non-clinical activities including clinical audits, Research and Quality Improvement activities.

Recent building developments completed in an exciting expansion program, include a new state-of the art surgical and critical care facility and Stage 3 expansion, which includes 92 beds within 3 new wards and a new Emergency Department. The ED had approximately 75,000 presentations per year.

Skills & Qualifications required:
MBBS or equivalent
General, Limited, or provisional registration as a Medical Practitioner
Relevant experience in clinical management
Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence-based practice
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work as an effective member in a team environment
Good written and verbal communication skills
ACEM Trainee - all levels

Desirable:
Ability to manage Emergency Department as the senior doctor in charge.
