An outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced Nephrologist to join the expanding Renal Unit of a major tertiary referral service in tropical Queensland.

The opportunity
You will provide comprehensive specialist renal services across hospital, outpatient, community and outreach settings. Clinical responsibilities include:

• Inpatient nephrology consultations
• Outpatient renal clinics
• Dialysis and home-based therapies
• Telehealth and regional outreach services
• Participation in the after-hours on-call roster
• Clinical leadership, governance and service planning
• Supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff and trainees
• Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
• Research, innovation and quality-improvement activities

The Renal Unit is continuing to expand, including the development of a dedicated home therapies service. You will have the opportunity to contribute to this growth and help shape the future delivery of renal care across the region.

Essential requirements
Applicants must hold:

• Medical qualifications eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Specialist registration, or eligibility for specialist registration, with AHPRA
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Nephrology, or an overseas specialist qualification eligible for assessment through the RACP

Experience supervising junior doctors, delivering undergraduate or postgraduate education, and contributing to clinical leadership will be highly regarded.
The position may involve outreach work and occasional travel to other facilities within the broader health service.
