An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced General Surgeon to join the new Regional Hospital, currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2027.

The Hospital
The Hospital will be larger than the existing hospitals combined, bringing expanded services and state-of-the-art facilities to the region.

As a General Surgeon joining during this important period, you will have the opportunity to influence the development of surgical pathways, service delivery and clinical standards within the new facility.

The Opportunity
As a Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer in General Surgery, you will:

• Deliver high-quality general surgical care across a broad range of presentations
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
• Contribute to the development of contemporary surgical services and patient pathways
• Provide clinical leadership within the surgical department
• Participate in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff
• Support clinical governance, research, quality improvement and continuing education
• Participate in the General Surgery on-call roster and respond onsite within a reasonable timeframe

About You
To be considered, you will ideally demonstrate:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery, or an equivalent specialist qualification
• Eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Consideration may also be given to suitably qualified overseas-trained General Surgeons progressing through an approved specialist pathway
• Recent and relevant clinical experience in General Surgery appropriate to the services role delineation
• Strong multidisciplinary teamwork and clinical leadership capabilities
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and digital communication skills
• A commitment to teaching, continuing professional development, research and quality improvement
• Availability to participate in the on-call roster
