Specialist/Consultant Gastroenterologist
Salary package: $420k plus
Full time | 12-month appointments

About the role
You will provide consultant level care for inpatients with gastrointestinal and hepatology conditions. This includes assessment, investigation, and clear management planning in a busy clinical environment.

You will lead and support a committed team of junior doctors and nurses, coordinate care for a large cohort of IBD and Hepatology outpatients and contribute to safe and effective discharge planning.

Elective endoscopy lists, participation in the on-call roster, and occasional remote outreach work are part of the position.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide consultant ward service with strong supervision and teaching for junior medical staff and students.
  • Deliver regular elective outpatient endoscopy sessions and participate in the on-call roster.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings including Consultant Meetings, M&M, Journal Club, and Radiology Meetings.
  • Work within defined quality and safety standards to maintain safe, high-quality services.
About you
  • AHPRA Specialist registration and FRACP in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
  • Certification in Adult Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy through the Conjoint Committee, plus current recertification where required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and management skills.
  • Clear, confident communication with the ability to work well across cultures.
  • Sound understanding of community support services and safe discharge planning.
  • Commitment to improving Aboriginal health.
