Speech Pathologist Grade 3

St Vincent's Hospital

  • Part Time / Fixed Term position until 29 January 2027

About the Role

You will work within a flexible, interdisciplinary structure, that ensures the delivery of high quality therapy services to all clients of the Young Adult Complex Disability service (YACDS), making sure that the client’s needs are met and they receive ‘the right treatment in the right place at the right time’.

There is a significant clinical component of this role. You will:

  • Assess and manage referred patients in accordance with up-to-date knowledge of departmental clinical policies and currently accepted Speech Pathology Australia professional standards of practice
  • Provide clinical leadership in maintaining an evidence and outcomes based service
  • Develop and maintain an up to date knowledge of community based providers suitable to refer YACDS patients to.

Classifications for this position will range from classification range VW6 – VW9 ($104,135.20 - $118,981.20 per annum, pro rata for part time).

Your Contribution

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), or Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia and commitment to Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics
  • Post graduate qualifications desirable
  • Minimum of seven (7) years post-graduate experience in a relevant field of rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated experience in Speech Pathology management of adults with disability, with disorders of communication and swallowing, in a community/outpatient setting
  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain/ Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain

About The Young Adult Complex Disability Service

The Young Adult Complex Disability Service (YACDS) is part of the Health Independence Program (HIP). The YACDs supports patients, their families and carers to transition into the adult health care system from children’s health services. The YACDS is available to adults, aged under 40, with a history of developmental disability such as cerebral palsy or other medical conditions. Intervention provided includes assessment, treatment and short term management which is time-limited and goal–orientated.
