About the Role
You will provide an effective & efficient communications service and information to all Hospital staff, external agencies and the general public
- Hospital Switchboard operations – Ensure Calls are answered in an appropriate manner and all callers are treated in a polite and courteous manner
- Demonstrate high levels of communication skills appropriate to Switchboard functions
- Operation and management of Hospital Paging system
- Receipt, management and coordination of all Emergency Codes
- Provide accurate patient enquiry information
- Collation, maintenance and dissemination of information relating to Doctors, Medical & After-hours rosters
- Provide accurate information to Hospital staff in relation to on-call staff, clinical rosters and directory information
Classifications for this position will range from HS1 - HS17 ($58, 442 - $64,610 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
- Experience in a health service environment is essential
- Demonstrated high level communication and organisational skills
- Strong computer literacy
- Sound typing skills
- Experience in a switchboard setting
- Ability to participate as a member of a team in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Must be self-directing and demonstrate initiative
- A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

About the Telecommunications Team
St Vincent’s Switchboard is located within the Inpatient Services Building at Fitzroy and operates 24 hours 7 days per week. Switchboard Operators manage a nucleus of information for staff, patients, relatives and external agencies
