Training and Education Lead (Radiation Therapist)

GenesisCare now has an exciting opportunity to join our team in the newly created role of Training and Education Lead (Radiation Therapist).

As our Training and Education Lead you will be responsible to support the Clinical Planning and our Treatment Unit Leaders in the development and upskill of clinical expertise for all radiation therapists across both pre-treatment and treatment techniques. You will be responsible for the coordination of continuing education for experienced radiation therapists and to support onboarding of new radiation therapy graduates. You will also be responsible for supporting the coordination of clinical placements for radiation therapy students across NSW.

Your demonstrated experience coupled with your proactive approach will enable you to work with local clinical teams and leadership groups to support the implementation of new initiatives around education, governance, documentation and credentialling.

This is a full-time role; travel will be required across our clinics in NSW.

More specifically, you will:

• Review current training resources across the Australian and NSW practices to identify gaps in training resources.
• Build and maintain capability and competency frameworks covering the full scope of radiation therapist work practices across all clinical systems (including Elekta, Varian, MIM, Monaco and Eclipse).
• Ensure all capability and competency documentation is up-to-date, stored correctly and completed in timely manner.
• Assist in the maintenance of approved documents (i.e., policies and procedures) covering the full scope of current radiation therapist work practices.
• Maintain the NSW Practical Training Register (as required).
• Develop induction and training programs for new radiation therapy graduates.
• Support new radiation therapy graduates to the practice by ensuring they are supported in their skill development with both tuition and mentoring.
• Work with the Pre-Treatment Leader to develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive radiation therapist training program in pre-treatment with focus on treatment planning and checking, in both Monaco and Eclipse.
• Work with the Clinical Planning Unit Leaders to support the delivery of MIM training, stereo training and the utilisation of new hardware and software as used by the practice.
• Work with the Clinical Treatment Unit Leaders to support the delivery of treatment training and the utilisation of new hardware and software as used by the practice.
• Oversee and work closely with Centre Leaders to ensure site readiness for advanced simulation and treatment techniques to support patient access to best practice treatment.
• Support the coordination of clinical placements for radiation therapy students across NSW.
• Be available to provide clinical support to the practices when required and as required to maintain currency.
• Lead RT practice and operational projects identified through RO and staff feedback

We're looking for someone who has:

• Minimum five years post-graduation working in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated advanced technical competence in some areas of radiotherapy (treatment and planning), including comprehensive knowledge of contemporary radiotherapy modalities and techniques.
• Knowledge of adult learning methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and review clinical documentation (i.e., policies and procedures).
• Proven ability to demonstrate and implement leadership behaviours.
• Proven ability to influence and lead.
• Experience in leading projects desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skill (including written communication).
• Strong knowledge of radiotherapy associated software and hardware.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office software for data analysis and reporting purposes.
• Business related knowledge is desirable.
• Registration as a Radiation Therapist with AHPRA.
