Unit Leader - Radiation Therapist

We are currently looking for a motivated and experienced Radiation Therapist to join the Shepparton Leadership team on a 12-Month Maximum term contract (Maternity Leave cover).

It is a full-time role, and the successful candidate will be expected to take an active role within the multi-disciplinary team, facilitating the delivery of high-quality patient centred services.

The key focus of the role is to provide clinical leadership and management of the Radiation Therapists with all aspects of Treatment and CT Simulation. The successful candidate will maintain an efficient and effective radiotherapy department to achieve best practice indicators in patient care, quality, safety, people, and financial management.

Clinical Practice

• Lead the efficient and effective provision of radiotherapy treatment processes, ensuring correct and safe administration of all radiation therapy procedures and protocols.
• Implement QA procedures for the relevant area of responsibility, ensuring treatment protocols are adhered to.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to Radiation Therapists in the unit, by sharing clinical expertise and measuring individual performance
• Ensure that all administration and documentation requirements are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner.
• Promote and contribute to an effective multidisciplinary team within the practice.

Leadership

• Contribute to the development and ongoing evaluation of techniques and protocols.
• Build a high-performance culture in the team, by developing capability, sharing knowledge, and mentoring less experienced staff, and ensuring skills gaps are effectively managed
• Partner with the Centre Leaders to ensure work is effectively prioritised to match centre volumes and patient need, to enable efficient access to treatment.
• Effectively assist in people management processes including but not limited to;
  • Recruitment and selection of team members
  • Performance management
  • Grievance resolution
  • Annual performance development reviews of staff
  • Ongoing feedback and professional development
  • In service programs
• Implement efficient & effective workflows to ensure Doctors, Physicists, and treatment focused Radiation Therapists are effective and productive in their day-to-day roles
• Build strong relationships with Doctors, understanding their planning requirements
• Use your influence and leadership skills to effectively manage and adapt to change and drive continuous improvement initiatives

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

• High level knowledge and competence in the delivery of complex radiation treatment techniques, including CT and associated imaging modalities
• Demonstrated experience in Varian, ARIA and MOSAIQ Platforms
• Display a strong commitment to developing others through implementing effective performance management and development processes and providing staff with ongoing feedback and performance coaching
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
• Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage staff from differing backgrounds and craft groups.
• Current registration as a Radiation Therapist with AHPRA.

Our Shepparton centre is a standalone department providing Radiation Therapy services to a large catchment area. We offer all techniques, including SRS and SBRT.
