We have an exciting position available for a Radiation Therapist to join us as a Unit Leader to join our BRAND-NEW Oncology clinic in Redcliffe, with state-of-the-art facilities, on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be responsible for driving the delivery of high quality and efficient radiotherapy treatment and planning simulation within your centre. The key focus of the role is to drive high performance of Radiation Therapists, while also playing a leadership role in building a positive team culture focused on achieving best practice in patient care.
More specifically, you will provide:
Clinical Practice
- Lead the efficient and effective provision of radiotherapy treatment delivery.
- Collaborate with staff from across the Practice to ensure safe and effective service delivery and development.
- Ensuring correct and safe administration of all radiation therapy CT planning procedures and protocols.
- Implement QA procedures for planning simulation.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to Radiation Therapists in the unit, by sharing clinical expertise and measuring individual performance.
- Ensure that all administration and documentation requirements are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner.
- Evaluate and implement continuous improvement initiatives as identified.
- Promote and contribute to an effective multidisciplinary team within the practice.
Leadership
- Lead radiation therapy service delivery and take a leadership role in projects as when required.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing evaluation of techniques and protocols.
- Build a high-performance culture in the team, by developing capability, sharing knowledge and mentoring less experienced staff, and ensuring skills gaps are effectively managed.
- Partner with the Centre Leaders to ensure work is effectively prioritised to match centre volumes and patient need, to enable efficient access to treatment.
- Effectively assist in people management processes including but not limited to;
- Recruitment and selection of team members
- Performance management
- Grievance resolution
- Incident investigation
- Annual performance development reviews of staff
- Ongoing feedback and professional development
- In service programs
- Implement efficient & effective workflows to ensure Doctors, Physicists, and treatment focused Radiation Therapists are effective and productive in their day-to-day roles.
- Build strong relationships with Doctors, understanding their planning requirements
- Use your influence and leadership skills to effectively manage and adapt to change and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- With support from the Centre Leader, be responsible for staff in education, research and development opportunities.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Advanced technical competence in all areas of radiotherapy, including comprehensive knowledge of contemporary radiotherapy treatment and simulation techniques.
- Advanced competence using Varian linear accelerators.
- Advanced leadership capability, specifically the ability to build and maintain a high-performance team culture.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to influence without authority, specifically Doctors and other Senior stakeholders.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Business related knowledge is desirable but not mandatory.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree as relevant.
- Registration as a Radiation Therapist with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ability to operate and/or be trained in the use of CT.
- Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage staff from differing backgrounds and craft groups.
- Able to develop and maintain strong and cooperative working relationships with internal stakeholders.
