Cognitive Behavioural Studies and Skills University Advanced Diploma

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on a range of therapies and interventions designed to help those who may be experiencing a range of mental health difficulties to manage emotions and behaviours that may be causing distress or poor health.

One of a few online CBT qualifications, this University Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Studies and Skills course is a perfect entry level course if you are looking to implement current and up to date CBT theoretical approaches and practical skills into your area of practice, or if you are simply looking to learn more about this subject area.

To study this course you will need a related qualification or already have years of experience in such a role, this may be in the form of counselling or as a therapist. This course will not give you a licence to practice but may help you decide if this is a career you wish to pursue or alternatively bring additional skills and dimensions to your role that will benefit both you and your patients.

An ideal introduction to CBT

You will learn the most up-to-date theoretical models and applications of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, as well as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy. It is suitable for a wide range of health and social care professionals from mental health nurses, occupational therapists to aspiring therapists or counsellors.

This University Advanced Diploma course is your first step to becoming an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBP) with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and accounts for one year of the four years training needed to practice as a CBP.

A diverse range of people take this course, which makes for more interesting class discussions and debates. Students are typically from mental health, nursing, social work or occupational therapy backgrounds, from all over the world. You will need a related qualification, but you might be an aspiring therapist or counsellor, or already have years of experience in such a role.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

As health and social care professional, we know that CPD is a vital part of your practice. Although undertaking CPD for your learning and reflective practice is a requirement of maintaining your professional practice, it is also an opportunity to improve the quality of your care. We offer a wide range of exiting standalone 20 credit modules that will quip you with the skills and knowledge to enhance your nursing abilities. Each module in this course is available to take part-time, online and counts towards your CPD.
