Worldwide, official tallies place the death toll at around 5.8 million. However, observers expect the true numbers are significantly higher as many infections and deaths go unreported.

There are also minor differences in the figures available. The numbers shown by the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) are marginally higher than the official figures of the World Health Organisation (WHO), which recently recorded some 397 million infections worldwide.

Meanwhile some 10 billion vaccines against Covid-19 have been administered worldwide, according to both the WHO and JHU.
