  • New undergraduate courses at Endeavour College receive Commonwealth support

    Author: Health Times

The Federal Government has subsidised natural health courses at Endeavour College for the first time, with two new undergraduate courses discounted by thousands of dollars as part of the COVID-19 Higher Education Relief Package.

The College, which is the largest private higher education provider of natural medicine courses in Australia, received 70 Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) for two short online courses created to help workers upskill or retrain in the wake of the pandemic.

With health considered a national priority, many of the courses approved under the CSP program fall in this area including Endeavour College’s new Undergraduate Certificate in Human Biology and Undergraduate Certificate in Building Health Through Nutrition.

“We designed these courses to help enhance job prospects and pave new career paths in the health sector, with doctors and nurses among those expected to benefit most from obtaining a more comprehensive understanding of human nutrition. An undergraduate certificate in human biology is a great way to add value to an existing job or offer a pathway into a Health Science degree or another medical, nursing or allied health qualification,” Endeavour College of Natural Health Director of Education Dr Andrea Bugarcic said.

With government subsidised places traditionally offered to universities, Dr Bugarcic said the placements were testament to the quality of education available at the College.

“It’s the first time Endeavour College has received government-subsidised places and to have two of our undergraduate courses approved really validates the work we do in the field of health science. These subsidised places are a one-off opportunity to access heavily discounted higher education which may have previously been out of reach,” she said.

Under the CSP scheme, eligible students can save around $4,000 per course – a discount of more than 60 per cent – as long as study is completed by the end of the year.

The CSP program falls under the government’s Higher Education Relief Package which is aimed at supporting workers displaced by the COVID-19 crisis to upskill or retrain, while also helping higher education providers continue teaching.

With micro-credentials and self-care emerging as new trends in higher education, Endeavour College has also launched its first Undergraduate Certificate in History and Philosophy of Complementary Medicine for anyone with a general interest in the field, and a new Undergraduate Certificate in Lifestyle Coaching, which is expected to benefit anyone wanting to delve deeper into the wellness industry, including influencers, as well as for personal health education and self-care support. Both can be completed online in six months and FEE-HELP has been made available.

New Undergraduate Certificates at Endeavour College of Natural Health

Undergraduate Certificate in Human Biology (CSP)

This online course enables students to gain a comprehensive understanding of human biology, human anatomy, chemistry and biochemistry and provides an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills required for further higher education study. Graduates of this certificate can pathway directly into Endeavour Health Science degrees or seek credits into another medical, nursing or allied health qualification. This course is suitable for anyone considering enrolling in a Health Science degree, who has not studied for some time, is not from a science background, or someone that is looking to upskill in the human biology and communications skills. The course costs $6,977 or $2,500 after the CSP is applied. The student contribution amount may be deferred to FEE-HELP if a student is eligible.

Undergraduate Certificate in Building Health Through Nutrition (CSP)

This online course allows students to obtain a comprehensive understanding of human nutrition and introduces students to food-based science. The certificate helps students understand how food components interact with the body’s biochemistry to how this applies in a specific life setting, for example weight management. This theoretical course would suit those working in allied health or related fields, with prior knowledge of human biology and biochemistry, and are looking to upskill in nutritional medicine knowledge to use in their own professional practice. The course costs $5,982 or $2,000 after the CSP is applied. The student contribution amount may be deferred to FEE-HELP if a student is eligible.

Undergraduate in Lifestyle Coaching

This online course offers students a deep understanding of all aspects of wellness from mindfulness to nutrition and physical practices with the chance to learn how to apply them in the clinical or residential care setting. Entry into this certificate assumes prior knowledge of human biology and biochemistry making it ideal for someone in the wellness industry who wants to upskill or add to an existing skillset, for anyone with an interest in wellness such as an “influencer”, or for anyone looking to build on their own self-care routine for health reasons. Graduates will be eligible to pathway into further study with Endeavour College or segue into other Higher Education Provider allied health qualifications. The course costs $5,484.50, with FEE-HELP available to eligible students.

New Undergraduate Certificate in History and Philosophy of Complementary Medicine

This online course was launched in response to growing interest in the historical and cultural background of complementary medicine. It offers students the chance to develop a basic understanding of history, philosophy and frameworks within the field. The course costs $7,554 with FEE-HELP available to eligible students.
