* Concerned optimists - Characterised by their blend of high concern and optimism about the future, retaining trust in government and other institutions

* Steady progressives - Notable for their steady and moderate approach to environmental and other issues, they seek balanced solutions that address concerns

* Climate sceptics - Distinguished by their dismissal of environmental concerns and opposition to action on climate change

* The unengaged - Characterised by their lack of interest or engagement on social and environmental issues, focused on other worries

* The stewards, optimists and steady progressives accounted for 61 per cent of those polled, with climate sceptics at 13 per cent and the unengaged 26 per cent.
