AMH Content Team Manager Jane Curtis said the 2026 release of the 1210-page book and digital platform was complemented by the digital update of the Children’s Dosing Companion (CDC) at the same time.

“Our core products – the AMH, CDC and Aged Care Companion – form a valuable reference for the quality use of medicines in Australia,” Curtis said.

“The latest update is the 27 th edition of the AMH and includes important information on new drugs such as edaravone for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and updated information on conditions such as acute coronary syndromes and asthma management.”

Curtis said both the AMH and CDC had new recommended vaccines for children updated, with pneumococcal 20-valent vaccine replacing other pneumococcal vaccines.

“On top of including new drugs and medicine uses, we update the terminology to reflect standard usage,” Curtis said.

“For instance, ‘hormone replacement therapy’ has been changed to ‘menopausal hormone therapy’.”

Curtis said that while the additions and updates were important, the behind-the-scenes work by the AMH editorial team was what she is most proud of.

“Tremendous amounts of time and expertise is put into checking to ensure content is accurate and up to date. This fact checking often doesn’t lead to a change in the content, but it is why clinicians trust the AMH,” Curtis said.

“Our 16 editors are subject matter experts, and we are constantly researching and reviewing the content in all our products to ensure our users have the most accurate information at their fingertips.”

The AMH was founded in 1996 by the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT), the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA).

All content is researched and written by staff editors, who are all pharmacists, and is subject to peer review by Australian experts and practising health professionals to ensure it reflects contemporary Australian practice and is independent, clear and concise.

The AMH 2026 edition is now available for purchase in print and online. To order a copy or access the digital platform, visit the AMH website at amh.net.au.
