  • Perth to get drive-in RAT collection sites

    Author: AAP

Three drive-through sites for the collection of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests will open in Perth this week following the relaxation of rules for close contacts of confirmed virus cases.

The drive-through sites will operate from Wednesday in Joondalup, Jandakot and Bassendean while free tests will continue to be available from suburban vaccine clinics, at regional virus testing centres, or by delivery.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for close contacts to access free RATs in order to fulfill their daily testing requirements," Premier Mark McGowan said.

"The new drive-through collection points make it even more convenient for the community."

Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson the sites also meant fewer people considered close contacts were attending vaccination clinics and mixing with vulnerable members of the community.

FEATURED JOBS

Under recently revised rules, close contacts with no symptoms can leave their place of isolation provided they undertake a daily RAT, wear a mask at all times outside the home, and avoid high-risk settings.

People can collect up to 10 free tests for themselves or up to 30 if collecting on behalf of a household.

People who return a positive RAT result must register it online or by phone with the Department of Health.
